The History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) aims to provide graduate students in Northeastern University’s History Department with the opportunity for communication, engagement, support, socialization, and the regular exchange of ideas with their peers. The HGSA strives to improve the quality of both graduate education and the graduate experience in the History Department through collaboration with faculty on programming and advising, the maintenance of a repository of resources for graduate students, and social activities and support systems. The HGSA also serves as a central organization to direct recommendations, concerns, and/or grievances to the appropriate body, office, or individual within the department, the college, and/or the university. Every graduate student in the History Department is welcome and encouraged to attend HGSA meetings and functions, to vote in HGSA elections, to set HGSA meeting agenda items, and to run for an HGSA officer position.
